About World Sit ‘n’ Go Masters

The World Sit ‘n’ Go Masters (formerly the ECOSTT) is an offline tournament series for players on the MPN.

The WSM uses a format unique in the live poker circuit. There are four rounds of single table tournaments over the first two days, and players collect points in each round based upon their placement. The 18 highest point scorers play on the third and final day.

On the final day, the 18 players start play on two tables with starting stacks determined by the number of points they have accumulated through four rounds of single table tournaments.

Because of this format, players have a chance to cash even if they bust out early in the first rounds.

If players don’t make the final day, they still have a chance to take some cash home in the €110 side event.

Visit the MPN website to see all MPN poker rooms.

WSM MAIN EVENT STRUCTURE – €750 buy-in – Saturday to Monday

The WSM Main Event is a €750 buy-in tournament. It will be held on Saturday 14 December to Monday 16 December 2013. Round 1 will take place from 12:30pm on Saturday 14 December.

It is based on the following:

  • No Limit Hold’em Tournament based on TDA rules (see separate Tournament Rules document)
  • 4 individual rounds of Single Table Tournaments which will last around 5 hours. This is NOT a standard multi-table event; tables are not balanced as players are eliminated.
  • 9-seat SnG tables
  • Draw done in advance so each player will know their table and seat number for every round (this will be displayed on a projector screen in the poker tournament room)
  • The draw will ensure that all players play each other over the four rounds to create fairness
  • Players will receive points depending on where they finish in each round
  • The players’ points will be logged onto a computer by one of the WSM Team and continually displayed on a separate projector screen – this will be a ‘leaderboard’ for all the players to refer to during play
  • The 18 highest point scorers will go through to the Main Event Final.

Main Event Chips

  • 15,000 chips

The chips for the WSM Main Event must be securely stored and protected at all times. Players must not remove the chips from the tables at any time.

Main Event Blinds

  • The blind levels will be shown on plasma screens in the tournament room
  • The position of the dealer button at the start of the tournament will be decided by a traditional card draw
  • See the Tournament Rules.

English speaking during the game

The English language will be used throughout the WSM and side events. All players must speak in English at the table.

Absent players

If a player has not made it to his seat by the end of level 2, and before blind level 3 commences, he will be a considered a ‘no show’ and his chips will be removed from the table. The number of chips removed from the table should be noted by the dealer on the player’s score card.

The player will be considered to have finished in last place and will score 0 points. If, for any reason, there are multiple no shows by the end of level 2, and before level 3 commences, they will all be considered to have finished in last place and score 0 points.

Tie-Break Situation

If two players finish with the same overall total points, the player with the highest finishes in any given rounds will be declared the winner.

Timing

If any of the rounds over-run in terms of time, players will have a shortened dinner break.

MAIN EVENT – FINISHING POINTS

Each player will receive points depending on where they finish.

If two players are elimininated in the same hand and they have an identical amount of chips, they will both receive the highest number of points possible for that finishing place.

This is a Single Table Tournament event, so players will not be moved to other tables when numbers are reduced.  There will be no breaking of tables. Clearly, some tables will be finished before others.

MAIN EVENT – ROUND 4

Round 4 will be a very important round for the players, as this is their final opportunity to increase their points and finish in the top 18 players.

A cash prize is being awarded for the 1st place to 3rd place finishers on each table in round 4.

  • 1st prize €100 for round 4
  • 2nd prize €50 for round 4
  • 3rd prize €25 for round 4

The winnings will be paid directly into players’ online poker accounts. If the player does not have an account with an MPN poker room, one of the WSM Team can assist in creating an account.

The players’ results from the last 4 rounds will be displayed on the projector screen so players can check their scores and finishing positions. The top 18 finishers will qualify for the WSM Main Event Final.

TIE-BREAK SITUATION

If two players finish with the same overall total points, the player with the highest finishes in any given rounds will be declared the winner.

FINAL 18 PLAYERS IN THE WSM MAIN EVENT

The last remaining 18 players in the WSM Main Event will compete against each other in a NL Hold’em event on the final day of the tournament on Monday 16 December.

This will be a two table STT with 9 players on two tables.

As players are knocked out, tables will be broken, and the remaining players will be moved to the final table.

The full payout structure will be announced when final numbers are confirmed. All payouts will be paid directly into players’ online poker accounts.

WSM SIDE EVENT STRUCTURE – €110 buy-in – Monday 16 December

The remaining players, who are not taking part in the Main Event final, may take part in a €110 buy-in NL Hold’em Poker Tournament, on Monday 16 December at 12.30pm. This will take place while the final tables of the Main Event are being played. This will be a straightforward MTT event.

Both the Main Event final and Side Event will use the same blind structure – although the starting chips will be different, and the timings will be the same so all players can meet for the dinner break etc.

This will be a Multi-Table Event with 9 seat tables.

Random draw – there will be a random draw, by drawing a table/seat card out of a bag – cards provided by Microgaming.

The same poker rules will apply but there will be no points’ scoring. This is an MTT event not STT. As players are knocked out, tables will be broken down as per a normal MTT event.

The following will be placed on the poker table in front of each player.
